A Representative at Global Coral Reef Alliance, at United Nations
for Sustainable Island Development partnership with the UN Commission
on Sustainable Development Conference or "CSD" www.un.org/esa/sustdev/csd/csd13/csd13.htm
- Haseltine is also also currently creating reef restoration designs
for coral and oysters. Including some novel new concepts for floating
island reefs which have the potential to improve aquaculture and aquatic biodiversity
in areas where it is now being depleted.

Lecture: The Ultimate Oyster Reef for New York City: Mara Haseltine
will give talk for "Green Renter" series at Green Arts
Energy and Education Center Solar1 about her artistic quest to design
to the ultimate oyster reef for the 'New York City Oyster'. Haseltine
will discuss how she has worked with a team marine biologists and
ecologists to experiment and create the first solar powered oyster
reef in New York City this past June as well as reef designs that
combine science/technology and traditional methodology to create
oyster reef habitat . When implemented on a large scale oyster
reefs have the potential to filter the 27 billions tons of wastewater
dumped into NYC annually and will bring back biodiversity to the
region which has not been seen since before the Industrial Revolution.:

Estrogen Tales: The Untold Story of Nine Molecules and How They Bonded...
Solo Show opens at the National Museum of Health and Medicine , Washington DC.http://nmhm.washingtondc.museum/
"Estrogen Tales: The Untold Story of Nine Molecules
and How They Bonded...," is a collection of silk-screens and
other works created by Haseltine and inspired by the research of
medicinal chemist Dr. Hyun K. Kim on molecular improvements to contraception
and women's health. The work is a celebration of Dr. Kim's discoveries
which are prime examples of "science in plain site" which
have incredible potential to improve women's health but have never
been developed commercially, and stand with many other promising
discoveries that could benefit the lives of women in particular,
and on a broader scale the environment.

Mara Haseltine was guest artist at "BioRock
Workshop" in Lombock, Indonesia. A ten day hands on workshop
that teaches a unique mehod of coral reef restoration, through mineral
accretion. Mara plans to use this technology to help design oyster
reefs here in New York City's surrounding waters, the oyster would
filter water and create marine animal habitates for indengionious
speciesScale.
