The Siene Is Alive!

I am back on Tara Oceans no matter city or spot it is one of my most favorite places in the world. As I re-enter the main cabin the sounds of the engine room and smells of fresh baked bread flood my memory and I am unable to suppress my desire to capture plankton! Plankton, is after all, the inspiration for of my recent art…The question arises is there anything alive in the Siene?

The first thing was to find the right materials and nets and with an impromptu Tara team of Francois Aurart, Dr. Chris Bowler l’Ecole Normale Supérieure (IBENS) and his lab assistant miscroscopist Atasuko Tanaka Bowler l’Ecole Normale Supérieure (IBENS), we joined forces and did a small experiment the purpose of which was to see if there was any life left in the Siene where Tara is now parked. Tara is parked at Point Alexandre 111 Paris France. We collected plankton and lo and behold life was found even on a winter morning on the Siene.

Here are some pictures from my trip to Tara Oceans.
